Sunday Mornings at 10.30am....

Our minister and others will be sharing in reading and praying through a worship service relevant for that Sunday; uniting our congregation in worship when we cannot be in the same building together.

Message from Revd Gary Gotham (United Area Chair) and Revd Coppard (Superintendent):
You may like to join us each evening at 9pm, praying to God for all those suffering, their loved ones and those caring for them, and remembering those who mourn.  You may also like to pray for all the members and friends within the churches in the United Area.

2020 World Day of Prayer – Friday March 6th

This service for the World Day of Prayer was the first to be held here in Bradford on Avon for several years, and was organised through the Bradford on Avon and Area Churches Together (BACT). We joined with people in over 120 countries and islands in a “great wave of prayer encircling the globe.”  Each year the service is written by a different country, and this year it was prepared by the Christian women of Zimbabwe on the theme “Rise! Take your mat and walk” from John’s gospel, chapter 5 verses 2-9a.  The service shared some of the many challenges the people of Zimbabwe have had to face over many years, and invited us to support them through prayer, as they constantly seek love, peace and reconciliation.

Our church was decorated with the colours of the Zimbabwean flag on the communion table (above), and we had a display about Zimbabwe in the foyer and various artefacts had been brought by people from, or known to members of, our congregation in celebration of Zimbabwe, and the resourcefulness of its people.  For instance, they make furniture out of papier mache which is surprisingly rigid and functional (see stool and trays below).  We were not able to display one, but this skill extends to making wheelchairs!

We had a congregation of over 50 people from various churches in Bradford on Avon and enough men to demonstrate that it is no longer only the Women’s World Day of Prayer!  We had coffee after the service served with biscuits made to recipes of Zimbabwe.

All in all it was a very positive service and those who had been involved in planning it were encouraged by the response, both from those who came and the offering for the World Day of Prayer, which amounted to £282.16, of which £170 was gift aided.

We look forward to next year’s service, which is to be prepared by the people of Vanuatu, on the theme “Build a Strong Foundation.”

WORSHIP for the SEASON of CREATION: September 22nd 2019

The Eco Church group prepared the Sunday Morning Act of Worship, based on an Ecumenical Prayer Service for the Season of Creation. There were a number of ways in which the issues of Stewardship of the Planet were presented - through prayers &  hymns, as well as in a poignant Drama and an address entitled 'The Web of Life'.

Informative links about our Christian responsibilities for our endangered Ecosytem can be found through two Christian charities:

PRAYER DAY SEPTEMBER 7th 2019:

Prayer Day in the Church

The Church was transformed into a wonderfully inviting space for our Day of Prayer, arranged in eight areas. Each area focused on a different aspect of our lives, with simple visual aids and prayers to guide us. Gentle meditative music played in the background and projected on the screen were images to help contemplate the beauty of God's creation.

More photos of the event can be viewed on our Time for Prayer page.
